The SJFM operates a internship program through a partnership with Urban Opportunities, a program of Impact NW that serves at-risk youth by teaching them job-readiness, leadership skills and self-confidence.
The first interns began working with SJFM in 2010, and since then the Market has had three Roosevelt High School students intern at the Market each season. The SJFM interns participate in all aspects of the farmers market, learning things like set-up and break-down, customer service, sales, community involvement and group decision-making.
SJFM is fortunate to work with a great team of youth each season. You can see our interns hard at work each Saturday. Look for them in their Market tshirts!
